General Contracting an ADU: compact and efficient

The design of this Accessory Dwelling Unit was evolving long before I was hired to perform General Contracting.

An Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) requires special permitting. Thus, it took patience and persistence to get the necessary approvals.

The city of Lafayette required a lengthy historical and zoning review. Luckily, the homeowner and the Architectural Designer, Nicholas Borrell of The Healing Home, stayed strong and focused. All the pieces fell into place. It’s a coup to have accomplished this and there will be more ADU’s in Lafayette’s future.

The plan of the building is perfect in every way!

Nicholas Borrell is a former east coast Design/Build professional. He knows construction from the inside out. Here in Colorado, Nick focuses exclusively on Design, Permitting and Project Management. He knows the permitting process on ADU’s intimately. His company is located in Lafayette and is called The Healing Home.

As you may realize, I am really excited to come on board! We will build something truly superb for our client who is a long-time Lafayette resident. She is patient, excited, and appreciative – a winning combination in a client.

Tucked on a side street in a central part of town, this building has everything.

Upper main living area: It will include a second story living space with Kitchen, Bath, Bedroom, Living Room. It will have lots of cross ventilation and a really nice view.

The ground level: Utility Room with washer/dryer. Also an Art Studio, one-car Garage. Oh yes, plenty of parking! And, of course, eventually, it will include a private courtyard sitting area. Patience is a virtue.

It is finished!  Check out the full project.
